Umbrella parts explanation

  • oya-bone The main bones that adhere to and support the umbrella fabric. The size of the umbrella is indicated by the length of this bone.
  • uke-bone A bone that supports the oya-bone.
  • naka-bo The rod located in the center of the umbrella.
  • handle A handle to hold when holding an umbrella.
  • ue-rokuro The part that holds the tip of the main rib and the middle rod together
  • shita-rokuro A part that brings together the struts into the middle rod to open and close the umbrella.
  • rokuro-tsutsumi A manufacturing method in which the potter's wheel is covered with fabric to protect your fingers when opening the umbrella.
  • ue-hajiki A metal fitting that holds the bottom wheel when opening the umbrella
  • shita-hajiki A metal fitting that holds the bottom wheel when closing the umbrella
  • tsuyusaki tip of main bone
  • dabo The joint that connects the main bone and the support bone
  • dabo-tsutsumi A manufacturing method in which the dowel is covered with fabric to prevent friction between the dowel and the umbrella fabric.
  • tengami A circular piece of cloth that prevents friction on the umbrella fabric on the top wheel.
  • kuchi name band A band that holds the tip of the dew together
  • dou name band A band that holds the umbrella together
  • kikuza Parts held together at the top of the umbrella fabric. It is a type of fabric that prevents fabric from being wasted, and it got its name from its resemblance to the shape of a Kiku-flower(chrysanthemum).
  • jingasa In the case of a long umbrella, this is the part that is placed over the chrysanthemum. Its purpose is to prevent water from flowing through the stone protrusion, and it got its name from its resemblance to the shape of a jingasa.
  • ishizuki A part that prevents the tip of the umbrella from wearing out.
